What Is Judo?
Judo, meaning “the gentle way,” was founded by Dr. Jigoro Kano as a martial art focused not only on self-defense but also on personal growth, discipline, and respect. By refining traditional jujutsu techniques, he created a safer training method that allowed students to practice effectively while minimizing the risk of injury.
Following its success in Japan in the late 1800s, Judo quickly grew in popularity and became part of the national education system before spreading worldwide. Today, it is an Olympic sport practiced by millions of people of all ages.
Judo is more than a sport—it is a path to physical fitness, self-confidence, discipline, and lifelong friendships. Whether you train for competition, self-defense, or personal development, Judo offers something for everyone.
Most importantly, Judo is fun!
